Alaskan malamute:

The Alaskan malamute is used as an Alaskan sledge dog. It is a large northern dog breed. These dogs generally weigh to about 34 to 38 kgs and are of a height of 58 to 63 cms. The coat of these dogs is pretty dense and is of the double northern coat type. The coat is usually of the colors of gray, white, sable white, red and white or pure white. The eyes are almond shaped and are brown. These dogs have a heavy bone frame and the general size of the dogs is compact. The height to length ratio is slightly longer than tall. The pulling power of the Alaskan malamute is very high. One of the very common features of these types of dogs is that they have corkscrew tails. These tails fall to one side. The feature of this tail is that the tail is used by the dogs so that their nose maybe kept warm as they curl up their body and bury their nose in their tail during periods of rest. This is an evolutionary trait that is developed by the malamute dogs. These dogs despite being very affectionate serve as excellent guard dogs.
