Basenji:
The Basenji breed of dogs originates in Africa. It is a breed of hunting dog that originates in central Africa. One of the distinct characteristics of this breed of dogs is that it produces a yodel like sound due to its unusually shaped larynx. They do not bark as such but these dogs have the ability to mimic barks and adapt to the barks of the dogs that they are raised with. These dogs share some traits that are common with cats in terms or temperament and behaviors.
The Basenjis are small in size and are very elegant looking. They have short hair with erect ears. They have a tightly curled tail and a graceful neck. Their appearance often resembles a miniature deer. When these dogs are young the fore head of the dogs are wrinkled. The eyes of this breed are generally almond shaped and they give the appearance as if the dog is squinting seriously. The dog usually weighs to about 11 kgs and stands to about 43 cms in height. These dogs are very proportionate and are as long as they are tall. These dogs can run very gracefully like a trotting horse as they skim the ground in a double suspension gallop when they are running flat out at their top speed.
