Bloodhound:

Bloodhounds are large powerful hound of European origin bred mainly for tracking human beings for example escaped convicts and persons who have gone missing. It has an acute sense of smell and it can follow the trace even when it is several hours or in some cases days old. In short it has very good sense of tracking. As such they are mainly used by police forces. Their height is about twenty three to twenty seven inches up to the shoulders and has a weight ranging from thirty six to fifty kilos. They have coats which are mostly black and tan or sometimes liver and tan. At times they are simply red in color. They have a hard and heavy bone structure. They are bulky so they need continuous supervision when dealing with families having children but overall they are always cheerful, friendly and calm. They are very determined at times which make it hard to train them but with good effort this problem can also be solved. Bloodhounds normally live for about eight to twelve years. Blood hounds are prone to hip dysplasia. Several researches are being done to solve this disorder in bloodhounds. They are also prone to eye and ear infections.
