Canaan Dog:
The Canaan dog is mostly found in the Middle East. It is the national dog of Isreal .It is said to have existed in the Middle Eastern region for about millennia. This dog is typically a pariah dog as they appear in their appearance. These dogs have medium build and natural upright ears. Their coat can be short to medium with a double coating to protect from extreme temperatures. The outer coat is harsh and flat. The undercoat however is very soft. The color of the coats can range from black to cream with all shades of brown and red in between. These dogs also usually have small white markings on them. The Canaan dog is of about 48 to 61 cms in height and 16 to 25 kgs in weight. These dogs are naturally independent dogs. They like to stay aloof. These dogs are very intelligent and quick to learn. How ever, they tend to get bored of repetitive exercises and odious commands if they find something more interesting. These dogs are very alert to strangers and will promptly bark at the sign of any disturbances. This makes the Canaan dog an excellent watch dog. The Canaan dog is also very territorial and should preferably be kept inside a fence yard.
