Greyhound:
The greyhound is a breed of dog that is primarily bred for making a good companion dog. They are also mainly used in racing and coursing game. The greyhound is a very fast runner. It is the second fast accelerating mammal that is only beaten by the cheetah. Its body is aerodynamically built and it has long and powerful legs. It can accelerate at a very fast pace and can reach a speed of up to 45 kmph in less than 3 strides or within 1 and a half seconds. This breed’s origin can be traced to Egypt where they can be associated to herding dogs. These dogs however are also used for hunting as their athletic build and clear and open eyesight is a valuable addition. These dogs are usually 28 to 30 cms tall and weight between 27 to 40 kgs. These dogs can be available in over 30 different colors like brindle, black, red, fawn, blue, gray etc. These dogs despite being fast in their acceleration do not possess huge stores of energy. Even still these dogs’ sprinters and they love running. These dogs also don’t require extensive exercise and training. The greyhounds are generally gentle and quite animals. They do not require much exercise and can stay healthy by just getting about 20 to 30 mins of walking everyday.
