African wild dog:
The African wild dog is and endangered breed of canidae family. it also has other names like African Hunting Dog, Cape Hunting Dog, Painted Dog, and Painted Wolf. Their origin is Africa. The specialty of this dog is that it does not have dewclaws on the forelimbs. It weighs approximately seventeen or thirty six kilos. Its dimensions are about 30 inches to the shoulder and a body length of about 40 inches and have 42 teeth.
When its strength of bite is taken into consideration it ranks first among all extant carnivorous animals. They reproduce at all times of the year and at one birth gives life to about two to nineteen pups but average scale is ten. The pups take care of themselves after 3 months and reach sexual maturity after twelve to eighteen months.
They hunt in packs. Their most common prey is medium sized ungulates like impala.
African wild dogs are curiosal hunters and they run and chase their prey in the open rather than cunningly hunting them down. The highest speed they can reach is about 45 mph. they reserve a part of the hunt for dominant females and pups in the den and other dogs who are injured.
